How does winter time affect us? 8 out of 10 Romanians experience mood swings
According to the latest survey by Reveal Marketing Research, 1 in 2 Romanians believe that the change to winter time is unnecessary.
47% of Romanians say that the change to winter time has a minor impact on their personal life, while 30% say it has a moderate impact and 24% say it has a significant impact on their daily life.
In the same vein, 8 out of 10 Romanians have noticed changes in their mood with the switch to winter time, the most common being daytime tiredness (41%), drowsiness (36%), depression (17%) or difficulty concentrating or remembering (16%).
As a general trend, 25-34 years old feel the transition to winter time the most, with only 7% of 25-34 years old reporting no change in mood compared to 18% for the whole sample.
“One reason why 25-34 years old are more affected by the transition to winter time is that this age range coincides with a period of peak professional and personal activity. They are in the process of developing their careers and relationships, and any change in their daily routine can lead to a greater impact on their emotional state and energy levels.” Marius Luican, CEO of Reveal Marketing Research, notes.
49% of Romanians believe that eliminating the time change would positively influence their pace of life
Even though the nights are getting longer and we are theoretically getting more sleep, the Reveal Marketing Research survey results show that the switch to winter time does not mean better quality sleep. 49% of Romanians say they sleep worse after winter time, 40% say their sleep stays the same, while 11% say they get better rest.
To better adapt to the change to winter time, Romanians say the main measures they take are trying to fall asleep earlier (30%) and adjusting their work or activity schedule (24%). 13% also drink coffee or energy drinks more often and 11% exercise more.
In terms of their opinion on eliminating the time change, 49% of Romanians believe that this would positively influence the pace of life. On the other hand, 35% of respondents believe it would make no difference, while 17% think it would have a negative impact on daily life.
